About Us |
Welcome to the Fox River Valley
chapter of the Institute of Management Accountants.
The Fox River Valley Chapter has been an active part
of the IMA since 1950. The IMA is an organization of
more than 67,000 members worldwide. It is devoted to
improving the standards of industrial accounting by
a broad exchange of information and experiences,
through research, education, discussions,
conferences, and publications. Our chapter has
approximately 200 members representing a broad line
of businesses in the local area. Geographically the
Fox River Valley Chapter covers a large area: from
Des Plaines to Rockford on the north; DeKalb on the
west; Joliet on the south and, although DuPage
County is in our boundary on the east, many of our
chapter members work in downtown Chicago.
Technical meetings are generally held during the
third week of the month from September through May.
Additional meetings and professional development
programs, including student activities, are
scheduled throughout the year. The Fox River Valley
Chapter strives to recruit speakers who will
challenge members on new and old topics alike,
whether for a technical program or a professional
development session.
The Fox River Valley IMA Board of Directors is made
up of volunteer members from the chapter who
contribute their skills in building a dynamic
program for our chapter. Board meetings are held
monthly and all Fox River Valley IMA Chapter members
are encouraged to attend and participate in chapter
development.
One purpose of the IMA is to keep members abreast of
ongoing accounting issues. Members receive the
monthly national publication, Strategic Finance. The
Fox River Valley Chapter publishes a monthly
newsletter, FOX TALES, which highlights items of
interest not only at the chapter level but at the
regional and national levels as well. News about
technical meetings, social events, personal news
items, employment opportunities and educational
programs are published in our newsletter.
